Operation Reindeer
Each winter, Mental Health America of York and Adams Counties prepares for a holiday gift-giving tradition that we call, Operation Reindeer. The project’s purpose is one of sharing holiday cheer and gift giving to the Wernersville State Hospital patients who are from York and Adams Counties.
Every September or October, hospital staff compiles a written list of personalized gift ideas from each resident. When MHA receives this list, we organize staff, board members, and community volunteers to help purchase the items. We receive donations of new clothing from local churches as well. Everyone joining together makes this project successful and fun! If you are interested in volunteering and/or purchasing a gift next season, please contact our office anytime! Below is a general list of items that typically show up on the residents’ wish-list each year. We are happy to collect donations of new clothing throughout the year as well. If there is something on this list that you would like to purchase and donate, we will add your donation to the next Operation Reindeer project coming up! In advance, we thank you for your support on this project! |
